Caleb Crim, 2008 Idaho High School Activities Association Interscholastic Star Caleb Crim is the newest milk mustache star in Idaho. The Fruitland High School junior was recently chosen to receive the 2008 Interscholastic Star Student Recognition Scholarship. The scholarship is provided by the Idaho High School Activities Association (IHSAA), which is sponsored by United Dairymen of Idaho (UDI) on behalf of Idaho’s dairy farm families. United Dairymen of Idaho and the Idaho High School Activities Association are partners in youth development. United Dairymen of Idaho will present $1,000 in Crim’s name to Fruitland High School. IHSAA will present Petersen with a $1,000 scholarship to the college of his choice. Candidates for the scholarship must participate in IHSAA sponsored athletic and non-athletic activities. UDI provides program covers to high schools for their sports events and other school programs. Crim will be featured sporting a milk mustache on the back page of the program covers. Dairy products are a part of Crim’s everyday life. "I drink at least 5 glasses of milk every day. I especially like to drink milk after I work out. I know the protein in milk helps strengthen my muscles and refuels my body. And it tastes great too!" Crim knows that dairy plays a key role in helping him maintain a healthy body. After all, three servings of milk, cheese or yogurt is a deliciously easy way to help build stronger bones and better bodies. Milk has a great nutrient package including calcium, protein, vitamin A and six other essential nutrients for healthy growth and development. Caleb will be a senior at Fruitland High School. He participates in football, baseball and honors choir and has earned several awards for each activity. He has served as Boy's Representative and Junior Class President. Caleb’s scholastic honors include being named to the highest honor roll, National Honor Society, Future Scholars of Idaho, Who's Who Among American High School Students, and National Society of High School Scholars. He produced and directed two nationally televised commercials that appeared on ESPN2. He has volunteered for many organizations including the Special Olympics, the Food Bank, and Friends of Rachel. Jamie Haddock from Potlatch High School, Joanna Kraft from Eagle High School, Meredith Metsker from Bishop Kelly High School in Boise and Samantha Riggers from Nezperce High School were also named Interscholastic Stars. These students received a $1,000 scholarship from IHSAA. As part of its sponsorship, UDI will give their schools $1,000 in their names. In addition, UDI will give $500 to each high school for runners-up Tyler Mick from Cole Valley Christian High School in Boise, Noah Archibald-Seiffer from Timberline High School in Boise, Ana Overgaard from Weiser High School, Michael Heinen from Mountain Home High School and Cory Zenner from Highland High School in Craigmont. |
